Potential Reviewer Resume #1

I really hope my pedantic notes lead me somewhere with this writing…

Okay, so I have tendency towards the over-dramatic – hence the opening line. I had a spur of inspiration tonight, after a sudden burst of ideas, the Girl’s motivation and sporadic scrawling. I gave it a crack, hence my somewhat over-confidence ala the opening sequence.

So, I have been quite interested in penning some album reviews for the local street-press in Melbourne (the good one, mind you). I have been procrastinating and meandering all this time to even get one out. I did a while ago – was ok – but I needed more, which has been the catch point thus far. I need some different genres and some different perspectives. Sadly, I write best alone and playing the album on a loop. Which works against the housemate, who likes good music and my own inability to sit still in the house for more than one song.

Tonight I came home, wrote an intro and even a conclusion for an album. Not the best way to write a review but I know the middle, I just haven’t penned it yet. Normally I’d leave the ending until last as trying to write specifically towards a final statement is like trying to figure out the Letterman Top 10 jokes before coming up with the topic… oh wait…

So I have a positive review done; I now have the major everything for another happy review (except the fleshing middle); plus I now have a list of SIX other albums – of varying degree – to listen to and write about. Before tonight I had a few ideas, but now I have more than I need for a folio. Stuff it, the more I have to write, the more I can try to write and then the more I can select from. Assuming I write a review for each.

Must not procrastinate, must just vent. Right now I have until Thursday early arvo to have at least tonight’s done, if not more.

I need incentive. Either something good towards me or I will suffer if I don’t…
